Whitley Neill Lemongrass & Ginger Gin

An Asian-inspired Gin that is begging to be your favorite cocktail experiement.

John James Whitley Neill comes from eight generations of distillers, and he’s a direct descendant of Thomas Greenall. If you are reading this from just about anywhere in the UK, you might instantly recognize that the Greenall name has been associated with distilling in England — Gin in particular — for 250 years. As a child, he happened upon a cache of bottles in his grandmother’s storage, all full and labeled with the family name. This experience inspired him to take up the family tradition. And things are going well so far.

All Whitley Neill Spirits are distilled in a small-format, 100-year-old, copper-pot still — the oldest operating still in the UK. They shun the "continuous distillation" process that ramps up volume, choosing to start and finish one batch at a time.

If you’ve ever asked the question, "Do we HAVE to drink Saki with our shrimp tempura?"… well, the answer is no, you do not.

Whitley Neill Lemongrass & Ginger Gin is inspired by classic Asian botanicals combined with traditional Gin-y ones — juniper, lemon grass, ginger root, lemon, sweet orange, cassia, orris root, coriander, angelica, and licorice. And while it stands on its own within the pantheon of Gin tastiness, it is particularly suited to sipping neat or serving as the base for Asian inspired cocktails while grilling teppanyaki or chomping on a hand roll. And we used it instead of Rum for an Asian Mojito — purely for research purposes — and that little creation was the hit of the party.
